Next Train On Its Way

A Progress Report on SPECS Foundation’s Second Eye Train

The second train will house the foundation’s optical laboratory, storage area for lenses and supplies, lecture and training area, and sleeping quarters for one stay-in employee. The construction also includes a pantry area and employee’s toilet adjacent the two trains.

Second Train’s Direction. To further enhance the SPECS Foundation’s commitment to “sustainable eye care services” to the indigents and less fortunate communities of Metro Manila, Philippines, a second train cabin provided by the Philippine National Railways (PNR) is under refurbishment through the wholehearted support of Canadian Vision Care (CVC) represented by Dr. Allan Jones.

Train’s Functions. The second train will house the foundation’s optical laboratory, storage area for lenses and supplies, lecture and training area, and sleeping quarters for one stay‐in employee. The construction also includes a pantry area and employee’s toilet adjacent the two trains.

Train Schedules. The second train’s construction is expected to complete on the last week of October 2014 in time for the upcoming visit of SPECS’s principal partner CVC and their doctors on November 4, 2014 during their four (4) day Eye Care Mission. The new train coach will also cater to the continuing outreach and training programs of CVC’s optometrist and their exchange students.
