SPECS FOUNDATION’S EYE MISSION SLATED THIS APRIL 2014 IN FOR THE VICTIMS OF TYPHOON HAYAN IN SAMAR  Saturday. February 1, 2014

A non profit organization, Special Philippine Eye Care Solutions Foundation Inc., (SPECS) works on providing a permanent and sustainable vision care services primarily for the less fortunate Filipinos.

Tentatively this coming April 6-15, 2014 a mission will be held to provide comprehensive eye check up and distribution of frames/ eyeglasses to our fellow Filipinos who are survivors of the typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda.

Covering large target areas in Western and Eastern Samar including Basey, Guiuan, Hernani, Borongan, Llorente and Balangakayan, SPECS hopes to reach as much Filipinos during this mission to remind them that they are not forgotten even after a few months after Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda traumatized their lives.

There will be four representatives from SPECS Manila and four Canadian doctors who will lead the said mission.

Coordination with Samar’s local government unit is highly appreciated by SPECS team as their efforts together with SPECS would certainly result to a magnitude of help amongst distressed Filipinos in the said region.

“Continuous support and care in whatever form is needed by our typhoon survivors.  Through this we hope to extend our unfaltering support to our fellow Filipinos through helping them re-build their lives and start again with a clearer vision” shared SPECS Founder Andronica Roma.

In order to make the mission truly successful, beneficiaries’ eye grade will be recorded and data will be sent concurrently to SPECS Manila office so that frames with accurate grade of lenses will be sent to the laboratory, to customize, ship and hand on to the particular beneficiary who owns it.

This is also the reason why the mission’s duration lasts more than a week to give time for the shipment to arrive and be distributed by the SPECS team themselves.  In this way SPECS will precisely serve its purpose of correcting the beneficiaries’ vision problem.

Further updates on this mission will be announced soon.
